- Grace: God’s kindness we didn’t earn. (Ephesians 2:8)
- Sin: turning away from God, in action and in heart. (Romans 3:23)
- Repent: to turn around: stop running from God, start following Jesus. (Mark 1:15)

- Holy Spirit: God himself, living in those who trust Jesus. He helps, teaches, and changes us. (John 14:26)
- Son of Man: Jesus’ favorite name for himself. It points back to a figure in Daniel 7:13–14 who receives an everlasting kingdom. See Son of Man (next step)
- Creed: from the Latin for “I believe.” A short summary of what Christians have always believed, like the Nicene Creed. It never replaces the Bible. See What the Nicene Creed Actually Says
- Affections: not just feelings. The deep loves and leanings of the heart that move what we do. (Matthew 22:37) See Religious Affections (the deep end)
- Theotokos: Greek for “God-bearer.” An old title for Mary that is really about Jesus: the baby she carried was truly God. (Luke 1:35) See Theotokos (the deep end)
- Milk, Solid Food, Meat: our three levels, “start here,” “next step,” and “the deep end,” from Hebrews 5:12–14. See Milk Is Not an Insult
