Can Works Produce Faith?

Christianity today says here is a list of things Christians do, so you should do them.  They give you a list of outside actions or fruit, and tell you the way to change the inside is to “do” the tasks first.

True Christianity is learning that God has set a standard no man can attain in his own efforts.  It is only with the help, and the power, of the Holy spirit that in fact changes us from the inside and is manifested on the outside.

This is why Jesus said they were whitewashed tombs.  Outside they were pretty with nice new paint, but on the inside they were full of dead man’s bones.

This is the same as if you pulled up to an old western town.  You would be awed by the magnificence and the simplicity.  But once you tried to enter the buildings you would learn that it is not a town at all but merely a movie set.  The appearance is all they are interested in.  All the interior shots will be shot in some sound studio elsewhere.

Christianity says “Doing the motions without the Holy spirit, is in vain”.

True Born Again Christians know that the Holy Spirit is working on them from the inside, and they rejoice when they see the outward fruits, because they know God is creating a good work in them which glorifies Jesus.

To skip the Holy Spirit, is to try and produce fruit on your own, which ultimately means you are producing fruit for your own glory.  The Holy Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, not you, you are to use this list to see if the Holy Spirit is actually producing this fruit in your life.

If you still desire things like sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these then you are still living in the flesh.  Again, I said if you still desire these things; you can say in your head that you “know” these things are wrong, but the Holy Spiritis the one who makes these things appalling to your soul.

You cannot do this on your own, it is only when you come to the realization that God has made it too hard for you and you must rely on His help.  When you get to the point where you are ready to say I need Jesus more than I need myself.  Then you are learning the concept of relying on Him for everything.  Keep praying, ask the Holy Spirit to give you the wisdom so you can see things God’s way.
