Morning and Evening Devotional with C.H. Spurgeon – June 13, 2026

Morning Section

Morning Scripture (ESV)

Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

— Hebrews 13:20-21

Verbatim Morning Text from Spurgeon

What a benediction! The God of peace who raised Jesus from the dead is the same God who equips us to do His will. He works in us that which is pleasing in His sight. This is our confidence: not that we are sufficient in ourselves, but that God is at work in us, equipping us and enabling us to live for His glory.

Morning Reflection/Teaching

Spurgeon points us to the great truth that the Christian life is not lived in our own strength. The same God who raised Jesus from the dead is the God who is at work in us, equipping us with everything good to do His will. Our sufficiency is from God.

Morning Nectared Goad

You may be trying to live the Christian life in your own strength, when God has promised to equip you with everything good that you may do His will.

Evening Scripture (ESV)

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

— Philippians 1:6

Verbatim Evening Text from Spurgeon

God finishes what He starts. The work of grace in the believer’s heart is a work that God Himself has begun, and He will not leave it unfinished. He will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. This is our hope and our assurance.

Evening Reflection/Teaching

Spurgeon comforts us with the certainty that God is a finisher. What He begins, He completes. The work of sanctification, the work of grace, the work of conforming us to the image of Christ — all of it is in His hands, and He will not fail.

Evening Nectared Goad

You may wonder whether you will make it to the end, but the God who began the good work in you will bring it to completion.

Closing

Tie-in Thought

From the first day to the last, from morning to evening, the Christian life is a life of God’s working. He equips us. He works in us. He finishes what He starts. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Valley of Vision Prayer

O God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, equip us with everything good that we may do Thy will, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
