Morning and Evening Devotional with C.H. Spurgeon – June 12, 2026

Morning Section

Morning Scripture (ESV)

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

— 1 Corinthians 15:58

Verbatim Morning Text from Spurgeon

The apostle gives us a great word of encouragement. Our labor is not in vain. When we are tempted to grow weary in well-doing, when the work seems fruitless, when our efforts appear to make no difference, we are to remember that our labor in the Lord is never wasted. God sees it all, and He will bring it to a glorious conclusion. Be steadfast. Be immovable. Keep abounding in the work of the Lord. Your labor is not in vain.

Morning Reflection/Teaching

Spurgeon knew that discouragement is one of the great enemies of the Christian worker. It is easy to become weary when results are slow or invisible. But the promise is sure: nothing done for the Lord is ever lost. Every act of faithfulness, every word spoken in love, every hidden prayer, every quiet act of obedience is recorded in heaven and will bear fruit in God’s time.

Morning Nectared Goad

You may be tempted to quit because you see no immediate fruit, but the Lord promises that your labor in Him is never in vain.

Evening Scripture (ESV)

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

— Galatians 6:9

Verbatim Evening Text from Spurgeon

The reaping time will come. It may not be today or tomorrow, but it will come. The farmer does not sow in spring and expect to reap the same day. He waits with patience. So must we. Do not grow weary. Do not give up. The harvest is sure.

Evening Reflection/Teaching

Spurgeon encourages us to keep sowing even when the field looks barren. The promise of reaping is for those who do not give up. Weariness is natural, but quitting is not an option for those who trust the faithfulness of God.

Evening Nectared Goad

You may feel like giving up, but the harvest is coming if you will not quit.

Closing

Tie-in Thought

From morning to evening, the call is the same: keep working, keep loving, keep serving. Your labor is not in vain. The Lord sees every act of faithfulness, and in due season the harvest will come.

Valley of Vision Prayer

Help me, O Lord, to be steadfast in the work Thou hast given me, knowing that my labor is not in vain in the Lord. Amen.
